About the Brookings Area Qult Guild

The BAQG was formed in January of 1995.  Our purpose is to encourage a wider appreciation of quilting, to raise and maintain standards of design and individual ideas and expressions.  We also keep interest alive by promoting local quilt projects and programs, and by doing charitable works.

The Guild meets the third Monday of each month (except in December) at 7:00 p.m. at the Old Sanctuary, 928 4th St, Brookings, SD, Use the southwest door on the west side. Meetings usually include guild business, a program or special speaker on quilt-related topics, social time and show and tell. The guild also sponsors workshops, quilt shop or show tours, quilt challenges, and morning and afternoon quilt groups. All are welcome - beginners and expert quilters alike. We share our experiences and learn more about making quilts. Dues are $20.00 yearly. Please join us and share in the fun!

Community Service Projects

Members have fun at work days and weekend retreats creating quilts for Habitat for Humanity, Quilts of Valor, and victims of fires and other disasters. In 2005 we gave 25 quilts to area people and sent off 21 quilts of valor to the wounded soldiers. In 2012, we gave 64 patriotic Quilts of Valor to the Brookings, SD National Guard 139th Brigade Support Battalion.
